Bible Verses for the New Year

Are you a New Year’s resolution person? I’m not. Not really. I’ve “done” them. And by done them, I mean I’ve said I’m going to do something, I do it, and then I quit three days in.

I’ve joined the gym. I’ve jogged outside, alone, in the dark. I’ve eaten a completely different, completely clean, free-of-processed-foods diet.

And every time, I completely lose my resolve. Most of the time it’s quite quickly. Sometimes I’ve stuck it out for a month or two, but in the end, I always resort back to the “old” me. The me I don’t like and want to change. The me who isn’t good enough for my own standards.

With these resolutions, I’ve noticed a consistent pattern. They revolve around me. My focus is on me and the things I don’t like about me and the things I want to change about me.

But what if that’s the problem? What if I’m so focused on me that I’m completely missing the mark?

This year, what if I fix my eyes on Him instead?

With these Bible verses for the New Year, I’m going to take the focus off this me monster and fix my eyes on the One who truly deserves the focus. Will you join me?
